According to the circular issued by the Official Gazette dated 30 January 2021 and numbered 31380, the year 2021 will be celebrated as the Year of Yunus Emre and Turkish, and this year will be called "Bizim Yunus", on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Yunus Emre's death. At the same time, this year, a campaign called "World Language Turkish" will be held at home and abroad. While the activities to be carried out within the scope of Yunus Emre and the Year of Turkish will be carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, all institutions and organizations will support these activities; Some activities will be organized under the auspices of the Presidency.
In the Circular, Yunus Emre's principle of "looking at seventy-two nations with one eye" and his emphasis on universal humanitarian values is underlined, and it is stated that he is a poet far beyond his age, contributing to world humanism and uniting people around common values. Another point that draws attention is the emphasis on the importance of Turkish, which is the legacy of Yunus Emre, and the conscious and correct use of our language as a civilization language.
"The Year of 2021 will be celebrated in the most beautiful way in Karaman, the capital of Turkish"
Stating that the declaration of 2021 as the Year of Yunus Emre and the Year of Turkish is extremely important especially for Karaman and the University, Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University (KMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akgül said, "This year is the 700th year of Yunus Emre, one of the great mystics and poets of our civilization, and Yunus continues to live with his poems and hymns among us for centuries. In addition to his Divan, which consists of the compilation of his poems, his Risaletü'n-Nushiyye, which he wrote in mesnevi style and named the Book of Advice, is one of the most important works of Turkish-Islamic civilization. Having received madrasah education, Yunus, who brought a deep understanding of 'human' existence and its connection with its Creator, exhibited a high understanding and culture in his poems full of secrets in terms of both language and meaning.
While emphasizing 'love' that never ends and does not wear out with time 'When I burst into ashes with love / I painted its color, I will not fade', '' If you broke my heart once, this is not your prayer / Even seventy-two nations / Your hand is not soft 'with the verses reveals the religious point of view and his determinations regarding the essence of worship. He sheds light on the basic issue of man by saying, "The way is the right way / The eye is that according to God", and also mentions the importance of learning science and science in a lifelong quest with the equation of teacher-student, master-disciple. While his immortal lines he sang in perfect Turkish still surround us with all its vitality in our hearts, this year will be a great opportunity for all of us to commemorate Yunus Emre in an interdisciplinary manner in many fields. 3%
