Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, said, '' Within the scope of our rights arising from international law in the Eastern Mediterranean basin, the maritime jurisdiction areas are determined fairly and fairly in accordance with international law, and the protection of our sovereign rights in our continental shelf and hydrocarbon resources as equal partners of the Cyprus Turks We will continue our exploration and drilling activities in the Black Sea as well as in this region without compromising our legitimate rights in order to guarantee their rights and interests.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Dönmez informed the MPs about the activities of the Ministry and affiliated organizations at the TBMM Plan and Budget Committee. Ministers can not start, noting that Turkey makes efforts to exploit their own resources for energy, "Country of global policies, ensuring security of energy supply and aim to capture the energy market is shaping the advantage. Technological developments in the world, changes in raw material and oil prices, transition to renewable energy and natural gas-based policies show how dynamic and open to development the energy sector is. In this context, we have made great strides in many areas with our national energy and mining policy, our roadmap in energy, which we have built with the understanding of indigenization, supply security and predictable markets, taking these changes into account.
Minister Dönmez said:
“In the last 18 years, our electricity consumption has increased by 5.0 percent on average, and our electricity consumption, which was 130 billion kWh in the 2000s, was 303.3 billion kWh in 2019, and our installed electricity power, which was at the level of 30 thousand MW, As of the end, our electricity generation reached 93,207 MW and our electricity generation, which was 129 billion kWh, reached 303.9 billion kWh in 2019. If we look at the distribution of electricity generated in the first nine months of 2020 on a resource basis; Approximately 46 percent of the electricity generated was provided by renewable energy sources, 34 percent from coal, 19 percent from natural gas, and the rest from other sources, and the share of domestic and renewable resources was 61 percent. Technological breakthroughs in the field of renewable energy have paid off, significant successes have been achieved in electricity generation from renewable energy in the first half of 2020, during this period, more than half of our total electricity generation was obtained from renewable energy sources and on May 24, 2020, 90% of our electricity generation was obtained from domestic and renewable sources. a new record has been set in daily production. While our electricity generation from renewable sources was at the level of 34 billion kWh in the 2000s, it quadrupled in 2019 and was recorded as 133 billion kWh. If we examine the electricity generated from renewable energy on a resource basis in the first nine months of 2020, the share of hydroelectricity in total electricity generation was 29 percent, the share of wind 8 percent, the share of the sun 4 percent, the share of geothermal 3 percent and the share of biomass 2 percent. Our renewable energy-sourced installed power, which was around 12,000 MW in the 2000s, approached at the end of September 2020.
