The small head project made the producers in Karaman smile
Karaman Breeding Sheep and Goat Breeders Association President Yücel Yaman said that the 100 lira support given for each animal joining the herd as a breeder from female lambs and kid goats started in 2020 within the scope of "A New Small Ruminant Project for Everyone" is a breath of fresh air to the sheep and goat breeders.
Yaman told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Karaman is a province that gave its name to the "Akkaraman" sheep breed.
Expressing that the geographical structure of the province is very suitable for sheep and goat production, Yaman said, "In the past, because of wrong policies, people migrated from the village to the city by selling their animals, but in recent years, projects and supports prepared for the increase of sheep and goat production have made the production of sheep and goats attractive again. Many people have now returned to their villages and started breeding livestock. he spoke.
Emphasizing that the 100 TL support for each animal included in the herd as a breeder from female lambs and kids, which was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2019 and started to be given last year, Yaman said that the producers are very happy:
"We currently have 700 thousand sheep and goats in our province. In 2020, when the support was started, 60 thousand female lambs and goats were included in the herd. If there was no support, this number would have remained around 15 thousand. 15 thousand old animals would have dropped from the number, that much. The lamb would be included. Thanks to the support, the breeder chose to add the female lamb to her herd rather than cutting it off. Thus, her sheep, which was 100, became 120. I thank the authorities. This number will increase every year. I also meet with the union presidents of our other provinces. They say the situation is getting better. We do not have a shortage of small ruminant meat at the moment. We meet the needs of our country and even export it. "
"Thanks to the incentive I included 100 female lambs this year
Lütfi Kayserili, who is engaged in sheep and goat breeding in the Dere village of the center, said that they are dealing with animal husbandry as a family.
Expressing that their biggest problem is feed prices, Kayserili said:
"We were not able to reproduce our version because the input costs were high. We used to include as many breeding lambs as the number of old animals out of our herd. This year, our government gave an incentive to the female lamb. With this incentive, we did not sell it because we could afford a certain cost of the female lamb that will join the herd. I was going to include 20 lambs in my flock and sell the rest, but thanks to the incentive, I included 100 female lambs in my flock this year. We are happy with this job. We are roasted with our own fat and contribute to the country's economy. "
Kürşat Bal, who returned to his village three years ago and started sheep breeding after 15 years as a tradesman in Karaman, also stated that he loves livestock.
"Bal, who expressed that he knew the intricacies of the job because they did this job in his childhood," It was much more difficult in the past. Now there are incentives. Incentives make a great contribution to us. Now I'm trying to duplicate the version.% 2
