Ünver: Free journalism is at the heart of a bright country Republican People's Party Karaman Deputy Att. İsmail Atakan Ünver published a message on the occasion of January 10 Working Journalists Day.
Unver's message is as follows:
“While the adversities and pressures experienced by journalists and the control efforts applied to their items that should always be independent are getting harder day by day; Turkey, according to the 2020 press freedom index of 180 countries took part in the 154'ünc.
Members of the government, who wanted to keep every press worker under threat and under control, with long periods of detention and groundless accusations, broke record after record in the cases they filed by deemed insulting.
This understanding of management, which has long lost its truth, increases its repressive policies day by day in order to make the press workers working for the freedom to receive accurate and independent information share in their own mistakes. However, despite all these negative conditions and the fact that the basic journalist rights provided on January 10, 1961 became unavailable today, fortunately, there are still and will always be journalists who use their pen directly, directly, in favor of truth and justice, and struggle to do their profession objectively.
While I emphasize that independent, impartial and free journalism is at the heart of a bright country, I sincerely congratulate all press workers on January 10, Working Journalists Day, and wish them a working environment where more free and economic problems are solved. ”
