While approximately 1,500 companies in 33 provinces were inspected by the Provincial Directorates of Commerce and the Revenue Administration for unfair price increases, the reports on these inspections were also conveyed to the General Directorate of Internal Trade, which runs the Unfair Price Evaluation Board Secretariat. It has been stated that since April 17, when the Unfair Price Evaluation Board was established, a total of 1,625 applications were submitted to the Board through the Provincial Directorates of Commerce, Ad Board, CIMER, e-Government and the website of the Ministry. Vegetables and fruits, basic food products, surgical masks, hand disinfectants, etc. were the leading complaints submitted to the Board regarding the exorbitant price increase. Applications came for preventive health products, various cleaning and hygiene products. On the other hand, within the scope of the audits initiated by the Ministry in wholesale markets in order to determine the price increases in vegetables and fruits, companies that were found to have exorbitant differences between the purchase and sale prices in their notifications to the State Register System (HKS) were also asked to defend them.
