Syllable Stones Museum in Karaman
I went to Saudi Arabia 16 years ago to perform my pilgrimage as the guest of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud. I both did my pilgrimage and had the opportunity to visit Jeddah, Mecca and Medina.
On my first day in Medina, my first stop was Masjid an-Nabawi. After leaving the Masjid an-Nabawi I walked to the cemetery next to it.
As soon as I stepped into this cemetery, which is better known as Cennetü'l-bakî among the Turks, I was stunned by the abundance of officially dressed Saudi security guards, which I call "graveyard demon", God does not write sin. These officers, dressed in black, with sticks like batons in their hands, were trying to prevent piling up at certain points in the cemetery without gravestones and shouting loudly, "Do not expect help from your dead." There were also signs in the cemetery with the same word written.
I have never been to cemeteries and tombs to "seek help from the dead"; either for visiting purposes or out of sense of loyalty. "What is remembered is not dead." Each tomb visit is a remembrance. The place called "Baki" in Medina was a place covered with bushes called "garkad". Hz. Muhammad (S.A.V) decided to use this area as a cemetery for the burial of his companions. Hz. When the prophet's son Ibrahim died, he was buried here. Every tribe in Medina has reserved a place for themselves in Paradise.
Hz. Rukiya and Zaynab, the daughters of the Prophet, were also buried here. Then Hz. Fatima and Hz. Hasan is also buried here. He was taken to Damascus after being martyred in Karbala. When the head of Husayn was sent to Madinah by Yazid, he was buried next to his mother. Among those buried in Baki, Hz. Prophet's uncle Abbas, his aunt Safiyya bint Abdulmuttalib and some of his grandchildren, Hz. Hz. Prophet called "my second mother". Ali's mother Fatima bint Asad and her milk mother Halima, their husbands Hz. There are Aisha, Hafsa, Umm Salama, Zeyneb bint Huzeyme, Zaynab bint Jahsh, Safiyye, Reyhan and Mariye. Along with many companions to Cennetü'l-baki, the notables of the Ahl al-Bayt and many people from the lineage of the subject were buried. Among the Companions, the Caliph Hz. Osman, Abdurrahman b. Avf, Saud b. Abu Vakkus, Abdullah b. Masud, Suheyb b. Sinân and Abu Hurayra.
The first Ottoman Sultan to organize and maintain Baki cemetery was Kanuni Sultan Süleyman . The ancestor of the Saudi King, who invited me to his country, was Suud b. When Abdulaziz invaded Medina in 1806, he had the tombstones and tombs in Cennetü'l-baki destroyed. II. Abdulhamid had them rebuilt, but in 1926, Abdulaziz b. Suûd had the tombs and tombs demolished again. Cennetü'l baki, where there are no tombs and tombstones, is still used as a cemetery.
