Another Support for Farmers from the Forage Crops Project in Karaman The Karaman Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has distributed alfalfa seeds with 75 percent grant in order to contribute to animal husbandry.

Selman Oğuzhan Eser, Justice and Development Party Provincial Chairman Abidin Çağlayan, Provincial General Assembly President Adem Kapar, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Yusuf Şahinbaş, Agriculture Chamber President Mehmet Bayram, Karaman Irrigation Cooperatives Union President Sami Yaşar, Karaman Cattle Breeders Association President Ali Dorla İsmail Çolak, Head of Karaman Chamber of Veterinarians, Director of Karaman Central Agricultural Cooperative Yusuf Mıh, village headmen and farmers who are entitled to receive alfalfa seeds attended.

Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Yusuf Şahinbaş, who made a speech at the alfalfa distribution ceremony held in Karaman Central Agricultural Credit Cooperative, said, “One of the most important problems of animal husbandry is to eliminate the deficiency of quality roughage. Besides being the most important forage plant in terms of quality roughage, alfalfa plant also contributes to the improvement of the organic structure of the soil. Clover grass is richer in protein, vitamin and mineral substances compared to other feed plants.

In order to increase alfalfa production in our irrigated agricultural lands and to provide our producers with more income per unit area, 75% of it was distributed from the resources of our Ministry and 25% as a producer contribution.

The said alfalfa seed distribution; Within the scope of the Forage Crops Development Project, it was implemented in the villages of Karacaören, Çoğlu, Dinek, Burunoba, Sudurağı, Kameni and Kılbasan in the central district of our province. With the project, it is aimed to eliminate the quality roughage deficit in these villages and to develop this region for commercial production of feed plants. I hope that our project, with a total cost of 333 thousand TL, will be beneficial to our 7 villages and Karaman, which are the implementation area.

At the ceremony, our Deputy Dr. In his speech, Recep Şeker said: “Hoping that the distributed alfalfa seeds will be beneficial for our city, we will provide our 96 farmers with 13 thousand 180 kg. He said that 39 thousand kg of hungarian vetch and 3 thousand 282 tons of certified barley and wheat seeds were distributed to the farmers of our province before that, alfalfa seeds were given to all farmers who applied to buy seeds in this project, and their support for such projects will continue. Şeker, I would like to thank Mr. President, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and those who contributed to us in these matters. " said.
