Baştuğ: Inflation rates are a lie! Bureau Laborers Union Karaman Provincial Representative Ahmet Baştuğ made a written press release after the announced inflation rates.
Baştuğ used the following statements in her statement:
"Along with the announced December inflation rates (CPI: 1.25, PPI: 2.36), the inflation rates for 2020 became clear. The inflation rate was 14.60 in CPI and 25.15 in PPI on an annual basis. An inflation difference of 4.36% occurred for public workers and retirees, who received a 4% increase in the second half of 2020. In this case, together with the inflation difference, the salary increase was realized as 7.36%.
In the Medium Term Program, Budget Law and Development Plans announced under the name of New Economy Program, inflation estimation has been determined as 5% with the logic of cut and paste in recent years, while the inflation forecast in the 18-year AKP government is only 2003-2004-2005-2009-and 2010. years.
When we look at the last 5 years, it is seen that salary increases remained below the inflation rate, except in 2016, when the deviation in inflation targets continued. While the economic crisis that started with the fluctuations in the financial markets in 2018 continued, the pandemic process that was announced last year and still continues, left people who live on their labor unemployed or sentenced them to short-time work allowance. In terms of working people, it has brought along a course of which purchasing power is decreasing day by day.
It is clear that the cost of living does not coincide with the announced inflation and the rate of confidence in inflation data is low, as is the case with many data announced by the political government.
While the minimum wage in 2021 was increased by 21.56% to 2,825.90 TL, public workers and retirees are preparing to meet the new year with a 3% salary increase. It seems that the day will be a matter of curiosity when the political government will make a statement to the public about the 3% increase to the public workers, who made the statement that the minimum wage earners below the hunger limit did not crush inflation. In 2021, when the minimum wage increase was realized as 21.56%, it is unacceptable that the 3 + 3 hike is in effect for public workers and the wage increases determined according to the inflation estimates of the political power remain constant in a period when the inflation rate is 3 times more than expected.
OUR CALL TO POLITICAL POWER!
- A collective bargaining desk should be established as soon as possible, and the salary increases of public workers and retirees should be determined by collective agreement.
- TURKSTAT should be restructured with an understanding that TÜİK workers will have a say and a decision.
- A separate inflation basket should be created from the goods and services that workers have to consume, and the real losses of laborers should be compensated over the inflation rates to be calculated over the created basket.
