Excessive consumption of industrial products triggers premature puberty
It has been reported that precocious puberty in boys and girls has increased gradually in recent years due to problems such as lifestyle and diet, air pollution, and access to clean food as well as genetic factors.
Pediatric Endocrinology Specialist Prof. Dr. In his written statement, Selim Kurtoğlu stated that families should follow their children closely in order to overcome the early adolescence process that affects individuals physiologically and psychologically.
Stating that the occurrence of secondary sex characteristics before the age of 8 in girls and 9 in boys is considered as early adolescence, Kurtoğlu said:
"Premature puberty, which occurs due to hair growth, manifests itself in the armpit and genital area. Breast growth alone in girls is also an indicator for early puberty. If premature puberty occurs as a result of activation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonad hormone axis. It is diagnosed as 'central precocious puberty'. While considering cysts, tumors, abscess, trauma, radiation, acquired children, radiotherapy, which are thought to be effective in the onset of central precocious puberty in boys, the cause cannot be revealed in girls. . "
Kurtoğlu pointed out that some endocrine disruptors lead to premature puberty because they act like estrogen hormones.
Explaining that chocolates with an additive called soy lecithin are the most important among them, Kurtoğlu continued as follows:
"It is also stated that excessive consumption of industrial products such as biscuits, soudjouk, salami, sausage, mayonnaise, ketchup, chips, which contain soy additives cause premature puberty. In addition, direct use of lavender or shower gel, shampoo or cosmetic products containing lavender. Also, cosmetics using tea tree, fennel tea, and corn can cause premature puberty because the fungus toxin called 'ZEA' is formed. Consuming it after waiting under the sun is also thought to trigger early puberty. "
Prof. Dr. Kurtoğlu stated that in addition to physical examination, FSH, LH, testosterone in boys and estradiol in girls are measured in order to diagnose early puberty, the level of hormones in the body can be measured, it can be evaluated whether there is an early progression in bone age by taking a radiograph of the left wrist and abdominal ultrasonography in girls can determine whether there is growth in the uterus and ovaries. .
Pointing out that the process can be paused by giving monthly injections to children entering early adolescence, Kurtoğlu noted that the child will be checked in 3-month periods, and the treatment is generally terminated at the age of 11.
