7 days 24 hours working in Hadimi Tunnel Working 24/7 in the second tunnel of KOP.
The 7th kilometer was passed in the 18-kilometer Hadimi Tunnel, which is the second tunnel of the Konya Plain Project (KOP), which will transfer the waters of Afşar Dam to Bağbaşı Dam.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry State Water Works (DSI) General Directorate, with its projects for the development and protection of water resources, water is building a modern structure of modern Turkey. In the statement made by DSI, it was stated that every facility built means healthy drinking water for citizens, life for the soil and contribution to energy, "Konya Plain Project (KOP) is one of the outstanding projects of DSI. Turkey's first irrigation project, which is characterized KOP is also the second largest irrigation projects from the region. The project, which was developed in order to meet the irrigation, drinking-utility and industrial water needs of the region by bringing water from the outer basins to the Konya Closed Basin, which has limited water resources, to use water economically by expanding modern irrigation systems, and to reduce the use of groundwater, is in fact a big set of projects.
Some of the projects covered by the KOP are in operation, some are under construction and some are in the planning and project phase. The Bağbaşı Dam and the 17-kilometer-long Blue Tunnel, built within the scope of KOP, brought the waters of the Upper Göksu Basin to the Konya Closed Basin in 2015 for the first time. The goal is to deliver 414 million cubic meters of water to Konya annually with the commissioning of other facilities under construction. Hadimi Tunnel is one of the facilities under construction in this context. The 18-kilometer tunnel, which is the second tunnel of KOP, will transfer the water to be stored in Afşar Dam to Bağbaşı Dam. It was said that these waters will reach Konya via the Blue Tunnel.
Working simultaneously at both ends of the tunnel
In the statement, it was noted that simultaneous work is being carried out on both ends of the Hadimi Tunnel, which is under construction on a 24/7 basis, and the following information was given:
“Progress is provided by the Tunnel Boring Machine (TDM) by the Bağbaşı Dam and by the classical del blast method by the Afşar Dam. TDM, which will open 11 thousand 505 kilometers of the 18 thousand 136 meters tunnel, has progressed 2 thousand 637 meters so far. TDM also progresses by making the concrete lining of the tunnel, and the segments used in concrete lining are produced in the segment workshop established in the construction site. On the other end of the tunnel opened by the del blast method on the Afşar Dam side, 4 thousand 392 meters of progress was achieved. A total of 7 thousand 29 meters of the tunnel has been completed. ”
"The Blue Tunnel gave life to the plain, it's time for the Hadimi Tunnel"
Stating that KOP is very important for the people of the region and DSI is working devotedly, DSI General Manager Kaya Yıldız said, “The waters coming from the Bağbaşı Dam and the Blue Tunnel enlivened the Konya Plain. A total of 817 million cubic meters of water, 620 million cubic meters to irrigation and 197 million cubic meters to drinking water, has been supplied from these facilities so far%
