Open ended question period begins in TEOG

Open-ended questions will be asked by the Ministry of National Education to improve the expression and analysis skills of the students in the first and second semester examinations within the scope of Basic Education Secondary Education Transition system to be made in the next academic year. In the exam where at least two scorers will evaluate open-ended questions, the scorer will not know which student belongs to the problem he will assess. If the scores of the two scorers are different, the answer of the student will be evaluated by the top scorer who prepares the question.

The Ministry of National Education (MoNE) announced that open-ended questions will be addressed in the 2017-2018 academic year, first and second semester joint examinations for the 8th grade students within the scope of the Basic Education to Secondary Education Transition (TEOG) system.

    MONE is launching an "open-ended question" period with the aim of creating an environment in which students can express themselves comfortably. In this context, the open-ended questioning practice in the common exams which are seen as one of the important steps will pass the next school year.

    According to the information received by the AA correspondent from the Ministry officials, the MoNE General Directorate of Measurement, Evaluation and Examination Services began to work on open-ended questions during the 2017-2018 academic year in the first and second semester joint examinations for the 8th grade students under the TEOG system.

    It aims to enable students to think analytically in a way that is consistent with the new curriculum, to build relationships between events and topics, and to strengthen their expression skills.

Up to 6 to 8 open-ended questions

    At TEOG, students will answer up to 6 to 8 open-ended questions, 2 of which are from some lessons.

    While the lessons to be taught by open-ended questions are not yet clear, the Ministry is working to prepare students to express themselves, to write articles they know, and to prepare questions without comments.

    At least two scorers will read the open-ended questions, the scorers will not know which student the exam belongs to.

    If the score of two scorers is different, the answer of the student will be evaluated by the top scorer who prepares the question. When the TEOG scores are announced, the images of the questions will be presented to the students with correct answers.

Practice in the courses

    With the free support and training courses started two years ago by the Ministry, 8th grade students were able to prepare joint exams more effectively, while the families were saved from the masculine.

    The MoNE will open-ended questions in the achievement test that are presented in support and training courses to prepare students for open-ended questions in TEOG.

    With the open-ended questions in the acquisition grip test, the students will have "exercised" for the new application in the TEOG exam.

    Students will be accustomed to the new system by answering open-ended questions in the questionnaires and examinations at the "Monitoring Student Development in Education System", which will be prepared by the Ministry of National Education, General Directorate of Measurement, Evaluation and Examination Services and will compete with the students' developments and school-based achievements in Turkey and compete with PISA and TIMSS.
